1350 Course Description

This course will familiarize the student in the basic study of gemology. Emphasis is given to the development of skills in gemstone identification, detection of imitation, synthetic gem materials and the proper use and care of gemological laboratory instruments.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of HRGY 1314 with a grade minimum of “C” or 2.0.

 

2331 Course Description

This course will familiarize the student in the study of diamonds in gemology. Emphasis is given to the development of skills in grading of diamonds through mastery of techniques using the industry standard 4 “C’s” as the foundation for the quality determination, detection of clarity enhanced diamonds, and the proper use and care of gemological laboratory instruments for successful outcomes.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of HRGY 1350 with a minimum grade of “C” or 2.0.
